How Coaching with Susan Works

Your business is unique. Your coaching should be too.

If you own an established business in a smaller or regional community, you already know that running a business here isn't always the same as running one in a larger centre. Your customers may be neighbours. Your reputation matters. Local relationships can create opportunities — or complicate decisions. I've lived those realities myself. That's why coaching with me starts with your business, your community and what you want the business to give you. There is no set formula to follow.

STEP 01Where You Are

First, we understand what's really going on.

It's easy to spend your days reacting to whatever is in front of you. The problem you're trying to solve may not actually be the problem holding your business back.

Together, we'll step back and look at the business as it really operates today — including your numbers, your time, your systems, your customers and the environment you're working in. We'll look for patterns, bottlenecks and opportunities.

You'll begin to understand what's really getting in the way — and where your energy is best spent.

STEP 02Where You Want to Be

Then we reconnect the business to what you actually want from it.

When you started your business, you probably had a picture in your mind of what success would look like. But the reality of running a business can gradually take you somewhere very different.

We'll explore what success means to you now. Because we're not trying to build somebody else's version of a successful business. We're trying to build one that works for you.

STEP 03What Matters Now

We decide what deserves your attention.

Once we understand where you are and where you want to go, we can separate the important from the merely urgent. We'll identify: the priorities most likely to move your business forward, opportunities worth pursuing, quick wins that can make a difference now, things taking your time without moving you closer to your goals, decisions you've been putting off, and work that may no longer need to sit on your shoulders.

You won't leave with another overwhelming to-do list. You'll know what matters most now.

STEP 04How We Get There

We turn decisions into practical next steps.

We'll break bigger goals into manageable steps that make sense for your business, your capacity and the realities of your year.

We'll talk about what's working. We'll talk about what isn't. And when something doesn't go according to plan, we adjust rather than abandon the plan.

STEP 05Ongoing Support

You don't have to figure it all out between sessions.

Business decisions rarely arrive neatly packaged between two coaching appointments. Bring them back to our conversations. We'll review your progress, work through barriers and make course corrections when circumstances change.

Because your business doesn't operate in a vacuum. Your plan needs room to change too.

STEP 06Forward Momentum

One step at a time. In a direction you chose.

The goal isn't to have Susan tell you what to do. It's to develop your ability to make better decisions about your business — and then actually act on them.

Over time, you'll have a clearer understanding of what drives your business, what deserves your attention and what you can let go of.

What coaching is not

Not a program

There's no set curriculum you have to complete. We start with your business as it actually is and focus on what you need now.

Not a formula

Your business has its own customers, community, circumstances and challenges. What works somewhere else may not work here. Your strategy needs to fit your reality.

Not a quick fix

Real change doesn't usually come from one dramatic decision. It's built through a series of practical changes you can actually sustain.

What you can expect from Susan

A thinking partner

Someone who will listen carefully, ask questions, challenge your assumptions and help you see what's underneath the problem.

A practical perspective

Ideas are only useful if they can work in the real world of your business.

An outside perspective that understands the inside reality

I've built and operated a successful business in a smaller, seasonal community. I know what it's like to make a business decision when there isn't a guaranteed right answer.

Ready to see what could be different?

Let's start with a conversation. No sales pitch. No pressure. Just an opportunity to talk about where your business is today, what you'd like to change and whether working together makes sense.
